Alterbridge got its start from the demise of another pop sensation, Creed. After achieving chart-busting success and finishing several tours, Creed members decided to pursue different creative avenues. Guitarist/ songwriter Mark Tremonti wanted to get back to his rock-and-roll roots. After a break, he started playing again with Scott Phillips. They both soon realized they shared the same musical vision. Tremonti and Phillips teamed up with original Creed bassist Brian Marshall and starting looking for the perfect vocalist. Myles Kennedy, formerly of MayField Four easily fit that bill. It was the perfect union. To celebrate, the entire band initiated Kennedy with a group bungee jumping excursion. What a perfect metaphor for a band poised to soar off the charts!
